Wharton Country Club

–A Little History of the Club–

Wharton Country Club is a private country club serving Wharton and the surrounding area with fine food, recreation, meeting space and social opportunities since 1947. It is governed by a Board of Directors which meets monthly to help create new ideas and improve the club. Our members are warm, welcoming, and fun and we can’t wait for you to join us!

–What does the Club have to offer?–

Wharton Country Club provides its members and guests comprehensive services and opportunities for physical and social wellbeing.  The Clubhouse has facilities for dining, meeting, socializing, and offers a full-service restaurant and bar.

GOLF: The golf course is a beautiful, nine-hole course.  The tight fairways, lined with mature pecan trees, create a pleasing and aesthetically enjoyable experience regardless of the skill level of any golfer.  The par 71 layout affords opportunity for golfers to be challenged at all levels in a pristine fresh-air setting, with a round often completed in three hours.  The Men’s and Women’s Golf Associations regularly sponsor tournament play for members and non-members throughout the year.

SWIMMING: The pool and cabana are great for summertime relaxation in a peaceful, serene setting, and are available for group parties.  Food and beverage service is offered at the pool during the summer.  The pool is a great place to cool off and enjoy fun activities with friends and family!

SPECIAL EVENTS: The Club offers a variety of opportunities for members to meet and socialize throughout the year!! 

• BINGO NIGHT takes place monthly and is open to all ages.  Bridge and Mah-jongg groups meet every week.

• HOLIDAY EVENTS are scheduled throughout the year including back-to-school activities, fall events, holiday events, special brunches, and more. 

RESTAURANT & BAR: The Dining room, named the Barbara Stephenson Dining Room, and the Bar both overlook the golf course with its greens, fairways and mature pecan trees displayed through ceiling-to-floor windows giving beautiful scenery to enjoy as you relax. Our varied menu includes appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and entrees in a southern, home-style tradition.

The full-service Bar offers a wide selection of wines, spirits, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages, and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30am until dark (closing based on patronage).  Lunch is offered Tuesday through Saturday.  Dinner is served Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 pm to 8:30pm.

PARTIES & EVENTS: Wharton Country Club is a great destination for receptions, business meetings, reunions, banquets, family gatherings, etc.  

• The Barbara Stephenson Dining Room has 1,000 sq. ft. of space to accommodate larger groups.  Features include a dance floor and buffet space.    

• The Game Room, situated next to the full-service bar, is ideal for smaller groups.  With 550 square feet it can be configured to accommodate an event that requires comfort and privacy.

• The Foote Room, located adjacent to the dining room, is accessed through glassed French doors. With an area of 300 square feet, this room is ideal for small groups of family or friends, or private meetings. There is no charge for this room.
